LAURENCE BAUER
Laurence Bauer’s love for the water began in his youth with dinghy sailing, laying the foundation for a lifelong maritime career that would later inspire his involvement in professional Boat Storage Services. Starting as a deckhand, he worked his way up through dedication and perseverance, eventually earning his place as captain. With over thirteen years in the superyacht industry, he now commands a 38-meter, Italian-built Benetti, demonstrating the skill and precision of a seasoned leader at sea and a trusted authority in premium Boat Storage Services.
Beyond his professional role, Laurence is a qualified Search and Rescue Technician and an active volunteer. His passion for the ocean extends to scuba diving, further strengthening his connection to the marine world. At Compass Marine, he channels this dedication into providing exceptional Boat Storage Services, offering secure, reliable, and hassle-free solutions for yacht and boat owners.
ANDREW PRETORIUS
Andy has spent the last 14 years in the yachting industry, working his way up from deckhand to captaining yachts up to 35 meters. Having operated boats all over the world, he’s seen firsthand what it takes to keep a vessel in top shape, especially when dealing with the logistics of high-end maritime assets.
After years of international command, Andy is back in South Africa and bringing that “captain’s eye” for detail to Compass Marine. He’s focused on making sure the storage and maintenance side of things is handled with the same level of professionalism he’d expect on his own bridge.
Outside of work, Andy is a PADI Divemaster who has dived just about everywhere. When he isn’t under the water or on it, he’s usually off the grid in his 4×4, exploring the backcountry. For Andy, whether it’s a boat or an off-road rig, if it’s worth owning, it’s worth looking after properly.
